Dillon calls it a day

Clare's All-Ireland winning defender Cian Dillon has announced his retirement from inter-county hurling.

Dillon made his senior debut for Banner County in 2010 and was a member of the team that won the Liam MacCarthy Cup in 2013.

He was joint-captain when Clare were crowned Allianz Hurling League Division 1 champions in 2016 but he has decided to bring the curtain down on his inter-county career.

"Cian has been a central figure in Clare's successes since making his debut for the county at U21 level in 2009," Clare's joint-managers Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor told the Official Clare Hurling Supporters Page.

"Cian has been an exemplary ambassador for his county and for the game of hurling and we wish him the very best in his ongoing club career with Crusheen."
