Donagh Meyler sustained a suspected broken leg after he was unseated on the John Ryan-trained Draycott Place in the Southampton Goodwill Chase at Listowel.
The Irish jockey was dismounted at the second-last fence as he was coming to challenge his mounts stablemate, Kylecrue, who made the running from the start.
The 5lb claimer was taken to hospital with a suspected hairline fracture to his right shin.
Kylecrue, ridden by Danny Mullin, went on to win by four lengths from Pumbaa, with favourite The Game Changer finishing third, 32 lengths off second.
Despite winning the race, Ryan wanted Kylecrue to run in this week’s main event, the Kerry National, but missed out.
"I think he'd have been a real player in the Kerry National on Wednesday, but unfortunately he missed the cut by one," said Ryan.
“It's a good consolation to get a win here and to win twice in the week is great.
"He might go for the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham's Open meeting next if he gets into it."
