Ex-Limerick senior hurler Tom Ryan has transferred to Dublin, joining Cuala from the South Liberties club.
And a Dublin insider told eir sport that there were high hopes that Pat Gilroy's new management team "could get Ryan's career going again".
The 25-year-old is is the son of Brian Ryan, a Limerick senior coach under namesake Tom in the late '90s and later a selector under Justin McCarthy.
Back-to-back Leinster champions Cuala are preparing for next month's All-Ireland club SHC semi-final with Liam Mellows but it is highly unlikely that Ryan will be in action then.
However, he played during the second half of a challenge game against Tipperary last Saturday for Dublin, now managed by ex-Dublin football boss Gilroy.
Ryan made played seven times for Limerick in championship between 2012 and 2014. His recruitment is a further boost to the Dubs, Conal Keaney having come out of retirement to rejoin the senior hurling panel ahead of the Allianz Leagues.
