Elneny could feature at Stoke

Mohamed Elneny could make his Arsenal debut against Stoke on Sunday, providing his has finalised his move to the Emirates in time.

Elneny's transfer from Basel was held up because of paperwork and he will have to be registered by midday on Friday to be eligible to play at Stoke.

Arsene Wenger hopes to have the midfielder available for the trip to the Britannia Stadium but admits he may have to plan without him.

"He has joined us and we will see if he can qualify for Sunday," Wenger said in the wake of Arsenal's 3-3 draw with Liverpool.

Wenger may be able to call on Alexis Sanchez for Sunday's game with the Chilean close to a return following his hamstring injury.

Sanchez has not featured since the end of November but he may be included in the Arsenal squad if he comes through a fitness test later this week.

"I will be cautious now. There is an opportunity that he will be in the squad for Sunday," Wenger confirmed. "He will have a definite test on Saturday and Friday and Saturday will be two important days for him. It is not impossible that he will be involved."
