Empire heading to Cheltenham

Busy time ahead for Leopardstown winner

Empire of Dirt is heading to Cheltenham following his victory in the Leopardstown Handicap Chase earlier this month.

Trainer Colm Murphy is targeting the spring festivals following his fine showing in south Dublin, with Aintree also on the cards for the nine-year-old.

Empire Of Dirt has bounced back from his fall in last season's Irish Grand National and will form part of a strong Gigginstown House Stud team at Prestbury Park next month.

"He's in very good form and came out of Leopardstown bouncing," Murphy said.

"I'm not one hundred per cent certain where we'll go with him at this stage.

"He'll get a few entries in Cheltenham - that and Aintree would look the obvious targets for him.

"I'd say it's very unlikely he'll run before then (Cheltenham), with the way the ground is."
