Erasmus not in Springboks mix

Munster director of rugby Rassie Erasmus has shot down reports that he is being lined up to succeed Allister Coetzee as coach of the Springboks.

Erasmus is in the first of the three-year he signed when he was appointed as Munster's director of rugby but the contract has done little to quell the rumours that he could be on his way back to South Africa.

However, he has made it clear that he is 'not in the mix' to take over from Coetzee should the South African Rugby Union decide to replace their beleaguered coach.

“There is so much speculation with things normally at this time of the year with players, but I just think the South African set-up is obviously going through a little bit of a rough patch which they will definitely get out of, I am pretty sure they will," Erasmus is quoted as saying in the Irish Independent.

“When that happens there is always a lot of speculation around different coaches. I am definitely not in the mix there.”
