Everton move for Bolasie

Deal close for Palace playmaker

Reports suggest Everton have agreed a deal to sign Crystal Palace playmaker Yannick Bolasie.

The Toffees had declared their interest in signing the Palace talisman, who enjoyed an excellent campaign in south London last season, but had baulked at the Eagles’ £30m valuation.

However, reports suggest that a deal has now been agreed that will eclipse the £28m Everton paid Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku in 2014 making 27-year-old Bolasie the most expensive signing in the club’s 138-year history.

The move is subject to the Congolese international passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

Bolasie joined Palace from Bristol City in 2012 and helped the club win promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs during his debut season. He has made 143 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 13 goals.

His expected arrival on Merseyside will significantly bolster new manager Ronald Koeman’s squad following the departure of John Stones to Manchester City, with deals for defensive pairing Ashley Williams and Lamine Kone also nearing completion.
