Extended spell out for Giroud and Ramsey

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey will not be rushed back into action in order to give them time to build up their fitness.

Ramsey has not played since picking up an injury in Arsenal's defeat to Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season, while Giroud has yet to start a game for the club due to a persistent toe injury.

While both have returned to training, Wenger is reluctant to rush them into the first-team and has confirmed they will have to complete a pre-season before they will be considered.

"Giroud will not be available. Ramsey will not be available," Wenger told reporters ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Swansea.

“I’m disappointed because Ramsey has worked very hard and he had a few little setbacks that forced us to be cautious with him.

“He’s on the last stage, he’s building up his fitness. Next week will come too early for him.

“We have decided that we will give him a complete pre-season now, even if he misses more games. Giroud will be the same. We have to build his fitness up again.”
