FA chief executive Martin Glenn believes England can win Euro 2020 when the final is staged at Wembley Stadium.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the competition, the 2020 European Champions will be played in 13 different countries, including Ireland, with the semi-finals and final set to take place in London.
England reached the semi-finals when the country hosted the Euros in 1996 and on the day when the branding for Euro 2020 was unveiled, Glenn believes the Three Lions should be targeting victory in the tournament.
"We'll turn up to every tournament as contenders. That has to be our expectation," Glenn said.
"You can never say you're going to win it because everybody else wants to win it too.
"But that is our ambition: to turn up to every tournament as a reasonable favourite and take it from there."
Azerbaijan, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Scotland and Spain will all host matches at Euro 2020 and new UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin believes it will benefit the game in Europe.
"UEFA wanted the 2020 tournament to be a true celebration of the game we all love and cherish," he said.
"What better way could there be than to take the tournament, for one time only, to all four corners of our beautiful continent?"
