Falcao and Pato leave Blues

Chelsea have confirmed the departures of Radamel Falcao and Alexandre Pato following the end of their loan deals.

Falcao joined Chelsea on a season-long loan deal from Monaco following a disappointing spell at Manchester United, but the 30-year-old failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, making just 12 appearances for the club.

Pate, meanwhile, signed for the club from Corinthians in January but managed just two first-team appearances during his six months in London.

They have been deemed surplus to requirements and have been allowed to leave along with squad goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

"With contracts having come to an end, we today say farewell to three players who were part of the squad during last season - Falcao, Pato and Marco Amelia," a statement from Chelsea read.

"Chelsea Football Club thanks the players for their contributions and wishes them success in the future."
