Dessie Farrell has no plans to move into inter-county management despite stepping down from his position as Gaelic Players Association chief executive officer.
Farrell has guided Dublin to All-Ireland minor and Under-21 glory and there has been speculation that his decision to step down from the GPA was in order to pursue an inter-county position at senior level.
But the former Dublin footballer insists he is committed to managing the county's Under-21s and has no desire to take up a role within the senior set-up.
“Some people have suggested that that’s the reason I might have decided to step down. It’s definitely not the reason at all. I’m happy to be involved with the 21s. And that’s a big enough commitment as it is," Gavin is quoted as saying in the Irish Examiner.
“It’s completely unrelated to the decision to step aside.”
When asked if he would like to manage the Dublin senior footballers in the future, Farrell added: "No, I can't to be honest. I think the commitment is too great. I've been happy coaching young players and being involved with young players over the years. Under-21 is probably the limit for me."
