Fennelly undergoes surgery

Kilkenny's Michael Fennelly has undergone surgery on his ruptured Achilles injury.

Fennelly will miss the All-Ireland SHC final on September 4 with the injury he suffered in the second half of Kilkenny's 2-19 to 2-17 semi-final replay win over Waterford earlier this month.

The midfielder is targeting a return to action early in the new and posted a picture on Twitter of his left leg in a cast after undergoing surgery on his damaged Achilles.

"Job done - any recommendations of books or box sets hit me up #letdrehabstart #rest #feetup," Fennelly wrote on Twitter.
