FIFA has opened proceedings against Wales defender Neil Taylor following his challenge on the Republic of Ireland's Seamus Coleman during the 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Aviva Stadium.
Coleman required surgery to pin his tibia and fibula after he suffered a double-leg fracture when he was on the receiving end of Taylor's challenge in the 69th minute of Friday's 0-0 draw.
Taylor was shown a red card for the tackle, which will result in him missing Wales' next qualifier away to Serbia in June, but he faces an extended suspension after FIFA decided to look into the incident.
FIFA will study the match report of referee Nicola Rizzoli before making a decision but Taylor is facing a three-match suspension, which would rule him out of the World Cup double-header against Austria and Moldova in September.
