Fonte: Board will get appointment right

Jose Fonte trusts the Southampton board to make the right appointment to succeed Ronald Koeman as manager.

Southampton have already started the search for a new manager following Koeman's move to Everton, with Frank de Boer one of the names being linked with vacancy at St Mary's.

Koeman was brought in to replace Mauricio Pochettino when the Argentine made the switch to Tottenham and Fonte admits the loss of another manager is a blow to the club. However, he is confident the board will bring in another top-quality manager to carry the club forward.

"It's not ideal, but we've been through situations like this before," Fonte stated. "We have to trust the board and the club that we are going to get it right and appoint someone with quality. We are a top club in England now.

"I'm sure the club will sort this situation out like in previous occasions.

"We've been through this before. We know how to deal with it at least."
