Former Ireland scrum-half Peter Stringer has joined Worcester Warriors on a six-month contract.
The 39-year-old, who left Sale Sharks in June after two years at the Premiership club, joins fellow top-flight English side Worcester as cover for Francois Hougaard, who is on international duty with South Africa for the opening months of the new season.
"I'm looking forward to meeting all the lads and being reunited with Donncha [O'Callaghan, his former Munster team-mate]," he said.
"I'm feeling as fit and ready as ever and am genuinely excited about getting back on the field as I feel I still have plenty to offer."
Stringer won 98 caps for Ireland between 2000 and 2011, and won two European Champions Rugby Cups and three Celtic Leagues during his 15 years with Munster.
He told BBC Sport in November 2016 that he was determined to play at the top level beyond the age of 40.
"I genuinely feel as I did 10 years ago. I still enjoy the training and playing so as long as the body and mind are in sync I shall keep going as long as I can," he said.
Warriors' Director of Rugby Gary Gold said: "Peter is an experienced number nine who will play a key role in the absence of Francois.
"He's in incredible physical shape for someone of 39 years of age, and he is an outstanding role model for our younger players."
