Sunderland defender Papy Djilobodji is to serve a four-match ban after losing his appeal against a violent conduct charge.
Djilobodji was charged after appearing to strike West Brom captain Darren Fletcher during his side's 2-0 defeat at The Hawthorns last weekend.
The incident occurred in the 86th minute of the game when the pair were in the penalty box waiting for a free kick to be taken.
Referee Craig Pawson spoke to both players but he did not take any action because he did not have a clear view of the incident.
Djilobodji denied the charge but an Independent Regulatory Commission found him to be guilty of violent conduct.
As he had been sent off earlier in the season the standard three-match suspension has been increased to four.
"Papy Djilobodji will serve a four-match suspension with immediate effect after his violent conduct charge was found proven," a statement from the FA read.
"It was alleged the Sunderland defender was involved in a 86th-minute incident with West Bromwich Albion’s Darren Fletcher on Saturday [21 January 2017] which was not seen by the match officials but was caught on video.
"He denied the charge, however it was found proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.
"The suspension includes the additional standard game as it was the player’s second dismissal this season."
