Garde confirms Debuchy interest

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde is interested in signing Mathieu Debuchy from Arsenal during the January transfer window.

Hector Bellerin's form has kept him out of the Arsenal side this season and he recently expressed concerns that a lack of game time would affect his chances of being included in the France squad for Euro 2016.

Villa are currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and with Garde keen to bolster his defensive options he has spoken to Arsene Wenger over the possibility of signing Debuchy.

"I had a conversation with Arsene Wenger a few days about some of the players and Mathieu Debuchy was one of the players," Garde confirmed.

"It's too early and it won't help me or anyone to go forward in this style to make too many more comments."
