George unlikely to run in Melbourne Cup

Order Of St George has entered quarantine but part-owner Lloyd Williams has indicated that he is unlikely to run in the Emirates Melbourne Cup.

The Ascot Gold Cup winner has been named a top weight for the Melbourne Cup and is among the 58 horses for the Caulfield Cup on October 15.

Although he has entered quarantine at Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle yard, the four-year-old is being aimed at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and Lloyd has confirmed Chantilly to be the preferred target.

"He's a 95 per cent chance of not coming (to Australia) but he has gone into quarantine," Lloyd told racing.com.

"He's more than likely to run in the Arc, but he's in (quarantine) as an insurance as the Arc is being run in Chantilly this year and so we'll keep an eye on the weather and the track."
