Geraghty to appeal ban

Barry Geraghty is to appeal the 30-day ban he received for his ride aboard Noble Emperor at Limerick on Sunday.

Geraghty was punished for "failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing" aboard the Tony Martin-trained eight-year-old in the www.limerickraces.ie Handicap Hurdle.

Noble Emperor finished second to Velocity Boy in the two-mile contest but the stewards found that the horse was not allowed to run on his merits under Rule 212.

The ban, which is due to begin on April 17, will prevent Geraghty from riding at the Punchestown Festival and the conclusion of the British jumps season at Sandown, but he intends to appeal the suspension.

"I will be lodging an appeal and I now just have to wait on a date for it. That's all I have to say," Geraghty confirmed.
