Gilroy: We must take our chances to beat Boks

Ireland searching for first test win in South Africa

Craig Gilroy believes that Ireland must capitalise on any opportunities that come their way against the Springboks if they are to achieve a first ever test victory in South Africa.

"Success for Ireland is to take it one test at a time. We have to try and prepare as best we can and deliver on the pitch what we have prepared," the Ulster winger said.

"It's a great opportunity for a lot of guys, there is a good mix with some older and more experienced players and then we've got some new guys in who have never been capped before.

"There is huge opportunity there and a lot of players are coming off the back of a successful season.

"It's hard work to get into the squad -- a whole season's worth of work, even more so for a lot of guys.

"The first hard part is getting here and the second hard part is taking the opportunity."

Ireland open their campaign at Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday before heading to Johannesburg on June 18th and Port Elizabeth a week later.
