Oliver Giroud expects to sign a new extension to his Arsenal contract in the near future.
Giroud has rediscovered the form that made his a fan favourite at the Emirates with four goals and two assists in his last four appearances for the Gunners.
After netting in stoppage time to earn a valuable draw at Bournemouth last week, the France international scored in the last minute to secure a 2-1 win over Preston in the FA Cup third round.
The 30-year-old has 18 months still to run on his current deal but he has confirmed he is close to agreeing a new contract with the Premier League club.
"We are about to reach an agreement for an extension [to my contract]," he told French broadcaster Telefoot .
"It was also a gesture of confidence; I want to continue the adventure here in this family of Arsenal. I feel good here.
"When I spoke to the coach, he always told me that I was an important player.
"I know what I am capable of. I just needed to be patient, to work in training and wait for my hour to come."
