Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud says he has "no doubts" that his future remains at the Emirates Stadium.
The France international has not started a Premier League game this season following a toe injury, with Alexis Sanchez taking up the lone forward role in Arsene Wenger’s side, but the 30-year-old insists he is ready to stay and fight for his place.
"I do not have any doubts about my future at Arsenal," he told Telefoot following France's 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over Sweden on Saturday.
"There is always competition for places. There are a lot of attackers at every big club."
Chile forward Sanchez has contributed eight goals and seven assists in all competitions for Arsenal so far this season, but Giroud, a former French Ligue Un winner with Montpellier, expects more game time over the coming months.
"At the moment, the coach prefers Sanchez up front, also because I have been injured," he continued.
"I just hope to get playing time again now. Alexis and I are different types of attackers and the coach has to make a decision. But I intend to come back even stronger."
Giroud may start Sunday's Premier League match against Manchester United at Old Trafford next weekend if Sanchez aggravates the "low-grade" hamstring injury he suffered in training with Uruguay.
Gunners' boss Wenger is worried Chile may risk Sanchez in the World Cup qualifier against Uruguay on Tuesday night and exacerbate the problem.
"I believe that with a hamstring injury, we have to get access for our medical staff to the MRI scan to see what grade it is, how bad it is and make absolutely sure that they do not make any suicidal decision that could harm his future for two or three months," the Frenchman said.
"That is absolutely important. It’s a grey area between the national team and the club team and of course they look at their own results, which I can understand but we have to preserve the health of Alexis Sanchez.
"He always wants to play and that’s where it is a more sensitive case because he’s always ready to play even when injured."
