New York-based Galway forward Jonathan Glynn is available for the Tribesmen's All-Ireland SHC semi-final clash with Tipperary on 6 August.
The 24-year-old, who works as a quantity surveyor in New York, missed last season's SHC campaign because of work commitments, but was given time off by his employer to return to Ireland to play in this year's Championship.
However, the Ardrahan clubman injured his knee during his first match back in the Galway SHC win over Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry in April.
Glynn initially played through the pain, but eventually underwent surgery on the knee meniscus injury in June, and missed Galway's 0-29 to 1-17 Leinster SHC Final win over Wexford on 2 July.
But Galway hurling manager Micheal Donoghue says the 2015 All-Star, who lined out for New York in last year's Connacht SFC, has returned to Ireland and is available for selection against Michael Ryan's All-Ireland champions at Croke Park.
"He's back, he came back last week," Donoghue told gaa.ie.
"Look, in this regard he was just really unfortunate that when he came back in his first club game he hurt his knee.
"The initial diagnosis was that it wasn't too bad, but then, because it wasn't healing properly, we had to get a reassessed and then discovered that he required surgery.
"That left him out for a number of weeks. He's worked really hard and he’s back with us for the last 10 days or so.
"It's great to have him around, he's a great character and a great influence on the group.
"The downside is he hasn't played many games, but as every day passes he's getting stronger and stronger. It's a great option to have."
