Gold heads Irish 2000 Guineas potentials

Galileo Gold remains on course to bid for the English and Irish 2000 Guineas double following the latest confirmation stage for Saturday's Classic at the Curragh.

Hugo Palmer's colt was the surprise winner of the Qipco 2000 Guineas when odds-on favourite Air Force Blue trailed in 12th of the 13 runners at Newmarket.

The latter will bid to make amends when he lines up for Aidan O'Brien and he could be joined in the race by French 2000 Guineas winner The Gurkha, Air Vice Marshal, Bravery, Lieutenant General and Shogun.

Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial scorer Moonlight Magic is one of four possibles for Jim Bolger, who is also responsible for Herald The Dawn, Sanus Per Aquam and Theodorico, while Awtaad from Kevin Prendergast's yard and the Michael O'Callaghan-trained Blue De Vega complete the list of entries at the five-day stage.

Meanwhile, Jet Setting has been supplemented for the Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas.

Adrian Keatley's filly was not entered in the Classic but connections have paid the €30,000 fee to add her to the field due to the possibility of rain over the course of the week.

In total there are 17 fillies entered in the race headed by Aidan O'Brien's Minding, who will be bidding for the 1000 Guineas double after her impressive win at Newmarket.

O'Brien also has Ballydoyle, Californiadreaming, Coolmore, Even Song and Pretty Perfect entered.

Jim Bolger and Dermot Weld could be represented by Turret Rocks and Tanaza respectively, while there could be three British-trained runners in the field - Ashadihan from Kevin Ryan's, William Haggas' Besharah and Czabo for Mick Channon.

Cool Thunder, Diamond Fields, Anamba, Now Or Never and Radiantly complete the entries.
