Goldson: We'll see if Brighton can reach FA Cup final

Brighton defender and goalscorer Connor Goldson has admitted the possibility of the Seagulls making the FA Cup final, and a day out at Wembley, after they saw off Coventry 3-1 at the Amex Stadium to reach the cup's quarter-finals.

Brighton took the lead 15 minutes in when Anthony Konckaert put a low cross into the box for Jurgen Locadia to tuck home a first-time finish past keeper Lee Burge.

Goldson made it 2-0 on 34 minutes when he rose highest to head home Markus Suttner's corner delivery.

Just after the hour, Leo Ulloa made it 3-0, with a vicious header with awesome power, after a cross from Bruno Saltor.

League Two-side Coventry made a game of it when Jonson Clarke-Harris tucked home a tasty finish from inside the box on 77 minutes, but the Midlands side couldn't conjure up another score as Brighton advanced to the last eight.

"It was a tough game. We said before the game we're going to have to be on it. We had to set the tempo," said Goldson.

"We've been the underdog a few times and I think Coventry should be proud of themselves, they had a good go.

"We'll now take it game by game and see how far we go in the FA Cup. We'll see who we get in the draw to tonight and see if we can get to Wembley."

Coventry goalscorer Clarke-Harris was bursting with pride post-match, and rightfully so, after the Sky Blues made a contest of a tie that had seemed dead and buried after an hour.

"The lads put a right shift in, we really deserved to get something out of the game, but they showed us why they are Premier League. We have to be really proud, to have come here and do this against the quality of this club," said Clark-Harris.

"We deserved the goal after all the chances we made too. I don't really want to be big-headed, but I thought I deserved that goal. It was a long time coming as well to be honest."

Next up for Brighton is a home clash with Swansea in the Premier League next Saturday.
