Sinead Lynch and Claire Lambe are through to the semi-finals of the women's lightweight double sculls, while Paul and Gary O'Donovan won their heat in the men's tournament.
Lynch and Lambe, and the South African pair of Kirsten McCann and Ursula Grobler, set the pace in heat three, with the Irish pair finishing second behind the South Africans in a time of 7:10.91, 3.4 secs.
The O'Donovan brothers, who booked their place in the lightweight double scull semi-finals by finishing ahead of Italy with a time of 6:23.72, admit they were disappointed that the Olympic organisers postponed racing on Sunday because of high winds at Lagoa.
"We handled it quite well - we were almost disappointed we could not race yesterday. That would have been a bit of craic! But we had to settle for this, and we handled it very well," Paul told RTE.
"We are well used to a bit of wind and that wouldn't have fazed us at all," Gary added.
Jennings and Lambe, and the O'Donovan brothers will compete again in Wednesday’s semi-finals.
