Griezmann to leave Atletico

Antoine Griezmann is to leave Atletico Madrid this summer amid growing speculation that he will join Barcelona.

Griezmann has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp for several seasons but opted to remain at Atletico last summer, revealing his decision in a half-hour long documentary called 'The Decision' on Spanish TV channel Movistar.

He went on to lift the World Cup with France but links to Barcelona have continued to follow him and they have only grown in intensity following the Catalan giants shock defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final.

In a video released on Twitter, the Frenchman said: "It's been an incredible five years. Thank you for everything.

"I wanted to tell the fans who have always given me a lot of love that I have taken the decision to leave, to see other things, to have other challenges.

"The truth is it has been difficult to take this route but it is what I feel I need and I would like to thank all of you for the love you have shown me during these five years."

Griezmann moved to Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014 and during his five seasons with the club he won the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup, scoring 133 goals in 252 appearances.

Barcelona are expected to pay the €120million buyout clause in his contract.
