Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed the club are looking to buy John Stones from Everton.
Stones was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea last summer and he finds himself at the centre of more transfer rumours this year with Guardiola keen to bring him in due to Vincent Kompany's injury record.
Everton rejected Chelsea's £30million offer last summer and the Toffees are unlikely to part with the player for less than £50million
City have also been linked with Schalke midfielder Leroy Sane and Guardiola has confirmed the club are looking to strengthen ahead of the new Premier League season.
"Sane is a player from Schalke. If he comes, we'll be happy. If he stays, I'll be happy for the Schalke fans," Guardiola told reporters.
When asked about Stones, Guardiola replied: "It's the same answer for Sane - he's a player for Everton. Everyone knows we're going to try but we will see."
