Guardiola fears title challenge is over
Pep Guardiola fears Manchester City's hopes of regaining the Premier League title may be over after the 4-0 defeat to Everton.
Sunday's hammering at Goodison Park was Guardiola's heaviest defeat in domestic football and the loss leaves City ten points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
City fell behind to a Romelu Lukaku goal in the 37th minute before Kevin Mirallas, Tom Davies and Ademola Lookman all netted for the Toffees as the visitors fell to their fifth Premier League defeat of the season.
When asked if the gap to Chelsea was now too great, Guardiola conceded: "By the first one? Yes. Ten points is a lot of points. The second one is three points. We have to see.
"I spoke with my players in the last three weeks or more, (and said), 'Forget about the table, focus on the next game and try to do our best to win'.
"After that, at the end of the season, we our going to evaluate our level and how our performance was, how the coach was, how the players were. After that we are going to decide."
Despite sitting fifth in the table, two points behind Arsenal, Guardiola insists he is happy to be in the Premier League.
"I'm so happy in Manchester. Of course, I prefer to win than to lose but I'm so happy," he said.
"The way I will try to do it, until my last day, is to find the best way possible to achieve what I think is the best way to play."
