Pep Guardiola expects Sergio Aguero to sign a new contract with Manchester City.
Aguero's current deal is due to expire in June 2019 but it has been reported that the striker is on the verge of agreeing a one-year extension.
Guardiola admits he is not aware if a deal is close but he is hopeful that the player will remain at the Etihad Stadium.
"I don’t know if I am the right person to talk about that. I think he’s going to extend the contract but it’s not official," Guardiola told reporters on Friday.
"I’m not the right person, I don’t know if it definitely will happen, that’s all.
"I think these players you wait to stay, they still have the patience to play in this club. We cannot discuss his quality. If he stays I will be so so happy."
City will be bidding for their eighth victory under Guardiola when they host Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
Despite enjoying an unbeaten start to his career in England, Guardiola admits that he rarely gives himself time to enjoy a victory.
"After half an hour, or an hour I am so happy. Then I start to think and worry about what is going to happen," he stated.
"At 3pm tomorrow we have to start again. Then the past is the past. There are no guarantees about what is going to happen."
