Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola has defended his players, and admits he may not be good enough for them.
Despite a blistering start to the season - which seen City win 10 consecutive games - the Manchester outfit have been inconsistent, losing four of their previous eight games, and dropping outside the top four after their 4-0 defeat to Everton last week.
With a crunch-clash against Tottenham on Saturday, the former Bayern Munich manager insists he too should come under scrutiny, and not only his players.
"I don't understand the lack of respect for amazing players when people say they are not good enough for me," Guardiola said.
"Maybe the expectations about my coming here and the commentary on us winning 10 games in a row were exaggerated," he added.
"Maybe I'm not good enough for them."
The 46-year-old had a successful seven years collectively with Barcelona and Munich, winning seven trophies - including six league titles, and admitted this is the first time he has come under pressure.
"It is the first time I have been in this situation and I want to handle it, but I am not going to say my players are no good.
"I want to be top but we are not."
