Halfpenny set to stay with Toulon

Full-back expected to sign a contract extension with the club

Toulon head coach Bernard Laporte expects Wales star Leigh Halfpenny to sign a contract extension with the club.

Halfpenny’s current deal expires in the summer and the full-back has been linked with a return to Wales.

The Toulon boss said Halpenny had been “under pressure” from Warren Gatland to return to his homeland.

But Laporte is confident that the 27-year-old will take up the option of a one-year extension with the European Champions.

"He's staying at Toulon. I don't know when he will sign but it should happen," Laporte told AFP.

"He's a good lad, you need some like him in a club. He trains five hours a day."
