Hamilton on top in Russia

Lewis Hamilton got the better of his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg to finish top of the timesheets for the second free practice session ahead of the Russian Grand Prix.

World championship leader Rosberg went fastest in the morning session, but it was the reigning title holder who ended the day as the fastest man on track, clocking 1:37.583.

Rosberg's hopes of beating Hamilton were dashed when the yellow flags were waved as the result of Romain Grosjean's spin in his Haas and he had to settle for third spot behind Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari.

Vettel finished 0.652 seconds behind Hamilton despite suffering an electrical problem during the course of the session.

Kimi Raikkonen took fourth in the second Ferrari as the Red Bull pair of Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat ended up fixth and seventh with Williams' Valtteri Bottas finishing sixth.

Jenson Button was eighth fastest ahead of Felipe Massa in the second Williams and Fernando Alonso's McLaren.
