Hamilton refuses to answer questions at press briefing

Lewis Hamilton has refused to answer any questions at his press briefing following qualifying for the Japanese GP.

Hamilton, who will start in second grid after teammate Nico Rosberg pipped him for pole position, stated that he was reacting to coverage of his snapchat use at Thursday’s press conference.

"The other day was a super light-hearted thing and if I was disrespectful to any of you guys, or if you felt I was disrespectful, it was honestly not the intention. It was just a little bit of fun," Hamilton said in a short address to the media.

"But what was more disrespectful was what was then written worldwide. Unfortunately, there are some people here [and] it's not them that's done it and unfortunately the decision I will take affects those who have been super supportive. That's why I'm saying it's with the utmost respect.

"I don't really plan on sitting here many more times for these kind of things. My apologies, and I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the weekend."

Hamilton will be hoping he can reduce the 23-point gap on his teammate Rosberg when the two take to the track tomorrow.

Conor McGregor will fight Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt at UFC 205 in New York on November 12 live on the eir Sport pack. The eir Sport pack is free to all eir broadband customers. To learn more about setting sport free visit www.eir.ie/sport .
