Lewis Hamilton was on top form as he was quickest in the first practice session for the Austria Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver was a whopping 0.449secs ahead of championship leader Sebastian Vettel despite using the slowest 'soft' tyre.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen was second behind Hamilton with the other Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas trailing close behind in third.
The second Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo was fifth fastest while McLaren finally showed some signs of improvement with Stoffel Vandoorne and Fernando Alonso seventh and ninth respectively.
Vettel's team-mate Kimi Raikkonen came home in sixth place after spinning on what was a slippery surface.
A number of drivers suffered the same fate as Raikkonen, with the Williams pair of Felipe Massa and Lance Stroll, who trailed in 11th and 15th quickest, also spinning.
While this was only the first practice session, the difference in the respective times of Hamilton and Vettel adds to the feeling that Mercedes have closed the gap further on their Ferrari counterparts.
