Hamilton withdraws from Barcelona test

Lewis Hamilton missed this week's test in Barcelona due to a foot injury.

Hamilton was scheduled to take part in the trial for next year's Pirelli tyres at the Circuit de Catalunya but he withdrew from the test because of a sore foot and was replaced by his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg.

While he was unable to drive in Barcelona, the world champion is expected to be fit for the United States Grand Prix on Sunday week.

"Lewis had some discomfort in his foot after training on Tuesday," a spokesperson for Mercedes said.

"It was agreed he wouldn't test so he could rest it and get physio to be in good shape for Austin, which he will be. There are no concerns about next week."
