Harrington through to world final

Ireland's light-welterweight Kellie Harrington is through to final of the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan after a comprehensive victory over Canada's Sara Cali.

Harrington made a slow start to her semi-final both but the judges all scored her a 10-9 winner of the opening round and the Irish fighter began to assert her authority at the start of the second round, while caught Cali off guard.

She continued to dominate her opponent in the third and the judges all ruled in her favour wit the Glasnevin fight now set to fight China’s Wenlu Yang in Friday's final.

"I just listened to what the coaches were telling me to do and what they told me to do worked," Harrington told RTE Sport. "I have these two guys making sure I don’t go overboard

"[Cali is] a tough girl, she’s up there, a top class boxer so I’m just delighted to get the win. The support from the Irish team, throughout the competition, it’s absolutely ace, brilliant."
