Henry: I will manage anywhere

Thierry Henry has declared that he is prepared to manage anywhere he is wanted as he embarks on a career in coaching.

The Arsenal legend has spoken in the past of his hopes for managing the Gunners but recognises he is a long way away from fulfilling his 'dream'.

The former France striker had the chance to join Arsenal as their under-18s coach last year but the move broke down when Arsene Wenger insisted he had to leave his position as a Sky Sports pundit.

Henry has since taken up a role as Roberto Martinez's number two at the Belgium national team and he knows he must prove himself before he can look at managing at elite level.

“Everyone thinks I dream of Arsenal. Yes. But it’s just a dream,” he told L’Equipe. “How could I be pretentious enough to think they’ll have me?

“I’m just starting. I’m trying to become a coach. I’ve no pretence to know where I could go one day. I’ll go where I’m wanted.

“It was simple [turning down Arsenal's offer]. The academy boss offered me the post of Under-18s coach. Arsene said that it was not compatible with my role as a pundit.

“It finished there. I’ve enormous respect for Arsenal. I left. I was not disappointed.

“I have no priority. I must prove that I am able to coach.”
