Henry joins Belgium set-up

Thierry Henry has been named as second assistant coach to new Belgium manager Roberto Martinez.

Henry left his role as Arsenal Under-18 boss in July and will join Martinez's backroom team, which includes Graeme Jones, who worked with the Spaniard at Swansea, Wigan and Everton.

"Roberto Martínez's assistant coach will be Graeme Jones," KBVB executive director

Chris Van Puyvelde said. "Thierry Henry will be the second assistant coach.

"Richard Evans has been added to our staff as Head of Team and Individual Fitness and our goalkeeping coaches are Erwin Lemmens and Inaki Bergara."

Martinez was named at the new Belgium coach following Marc Wilmots' departure on the back of the Red Devils' disappointing Euro 2016 exit and the former Everton manager is looking forward to working with Henry.

"We have got very short contact time with the players. The attacking quality in our group is very rich. Henry's experience on being able to help in growing through that situation as a team is very important," he said.

"It is a big role from Thierry’s point of view. It's not about Thierry coming in and solving all our problems. We are very much expecting to be hard-working through the age groups. We will all help in developing players. Thierry will be a member of that."
