Henshaw looking forward to Ringrose partnership

New Leinster signing Robbie Henshaw is looking forward to playing alongside Garry Ringrose this season.

Henshaw joined Leinster on a three-year deal in July after helping Connacht to their first major trophy, the Pro 12, last season.

The Athlone native told The42.ie that he hopes to build a fruitful partnership at centre with academy graduate Ringrose, 21, when he makes his expected debut in October or November following knee surgery.

"He’s a class player, and a really exciting talent as a young guy coming in," Henshaw said.

"I know the feeling with the pressure being put on you. He has delivered in the last two seasons and he has really made the transition up to professional rugby. He has made it with ease.

"It will definitely be exciting to link up with Garry in the future, and give him a little bit of experience trying to help him out, and I suppose just feeding off him and working with him.

"He’ll learn lots, and he has the skill and the talent to take things to the next level."

Leinster head coach Leo Cullen will be without Henshaw, Jonny Sexton (shoulder), and Sean O’Brien for the Pro 12 home opener against Benetton Treviso on 2 September, while Rhys Ruddock (ankle), Richardt Strauss (knee), Dave Kearney (AC joint), Ed Byrne (knee) and Billy Dardis (shoulder) are also still on the treatment table.
