Henshaw & Sexton to miss Australia Test

Ireland centre Robbie Henshaw and fly-half Jonny Sexton will miss Saturday's Test match against Australia in Dublin through injury.

Ireland No 12 Henshaw was substituted just 11 minutes into Saturday's 21-9 defeat to New Zealand at the Aviva Stadium following a high tackle by All Blacks' flanker Sam Cane, and left the field on a stretcher with his neck in a brace.

Irish team manager Mick Kearney confirmed the Leinster centre will miss the match under concussion protocols.

Sexton injured his hamstring 18 minutes into the match against the back-to-back world champions, and is also unavailable for the fourth and final match of Ireland's November International series.

Blindside flanker CJ Stander and full-back Rob Kearney are doubts after head injuries sustained against the All Blacks, and will need to complete the head injury assessment [HIA] process and the return to play protocols.

Ireland are waiting on the fitness of tighthead prop Tadhg Furlong, who suffered a dead leg against New Zealand, and winger Simon Zebo, who limped off with an injury seven minutes from time against Steve Hansen's side.

Ulster centre Stuart Olding and Munster centre Rory Scannell have been added to the squad as cover.

"Robbie Henshaw was knocked unconscious by a shoulder contact to his jaw. He suffered a concussion and will not be involved this week," Kearney confirmed toirishrugby.com

"Johnny Sexton has suffered a minor hamstring injury and has been ruled out of the game at the weekend. Rob Kearney developed concussive symptoms after the game and following assessment. He will follow the graduated return-to-play protocols.

"CJ Stander was removed for a suspected concussion and will complete the HIA (head injury assessment) process and the return-to-play protocols."
