Hiddink: Pato is not a gamble

Chelsea boss sees no risk in loan move

Chelsea caretaker manager Guus Hiddink does not feel that the loan signing of Alexandre Pato is a gamble.

The 26-year-old is on the verge of moving to Stamford Bridge from Brazilian side Corinthians until the end of the current season.

The forward enjoyed success early on in his career at AC Milan before a succession of injuries and a loss of form saw him fall out of favour at the San Siro.

Pato also fell out of favour at international level, last appearing for Brazil in 2013 despite a decent record of 10 goals in 25 games for the Selecao.

"It's not a gamble. Coming on loan makes it possible to view if he can adapt to the league," said Hiddink.

"He is in London. He is now in the process of bureaucratic paperwork."
