Ireland's rowers are celebrating on the double after two crews qualified for Friday's Olympic Finals at the Lagoa Stadium.
Sinead Lynch and Claire Lambe eased into the Olympic A final of the light double skulls before Cork brothers Gary and Paul O'Donovan booked their place in the decider of the men's lightweight double skulls.
Lynch and Lambe finished third in their semi-final in a time of 7:18.24 as the Netherlands and Canada took the top two spots.
The Irish pair were fourth passing the 500m point but with a quarter of the course remaining they had moved into second ahead of Canada. Although the Canadians battled back to take second, the Lynch and Lambe held off the challenge of the fast-finishing Danes to secure third spot.
The O'Donovan brothers were fourth at the 500m mark as France and the United States edged away from chasing pack.
They remained calm and moved passed Britain at the half-way point before challenging the Americans over the final 1000metres.
They got close to taking second but they crossed the line in third in a time of 6.35.70 to book their place in Friday's decider with France taking the heat from the United States.
