Roy Hodgson has warned of the "dangers" of the English press.
The former England manager has kept his counsel since watching his side make a humiliating exit at Euro 2016 to minnows Iceland in the second round.
The former Liverpool and West Brom manager resigned in the post-match press conference and has kept a very low profile since, with the English media in typically savage form after the defeat.
However, writing for UEFA's coaching magazine, The Technician, Hodgson spoke of the dangers of the press in his native country.
"The written press is very dangerous," he said. "They can take the words that you say and make it sound very, very different to how it actually was. But you can’t beat them.
"You’ve got to try to avoid the temptation to get some sort of
revenge the next time you’re in front of that media group when you’ve
read something you don’t like."
Hodgson however, neglected to discuss his own failings during his time as England boss, which also included finishing bottom of their group at the 2014 World Cup.
