Hull hope to complete Mason deal

Hull City have reportedly agreed a deal with Tottenham to sign England midfielder Ryan Mason.

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has told the 25-year-old, who is yet to feature for Spurs this season, to find a new club before the end of the transfer window.

Mason is behind Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and new signing Victor Wanyama in Pochettino's midfield pecking order, while the Argentine is also keen to offer 20-year-old Harry Winks some game time this season.

Mason was on Humberside on Friday to agree terms, but Sunderland are also keen on signing the Tottenham Academy graduate, and may try to hijack the deal over the weekend.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's Premier League match with Manchester United, Hull caretaker manager Mike Phelan said the Tigers hope to bring in six players before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

"We are in talks with two or three new players, we are pursuing those but at the moment nothing has been delivered," he said.

"We've agreed a few fees, but we haven't got into discussions yet as to what else it's going to cost us one top of that.

"Without naming names, we have agreed fees with players, clubs and agents and we just have to see between now and Wednesday whether we can get those done. We need as many as we can get. We talked about six, it may be more, it may be less, we'll have to see."
