Uncapped Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan has been called up to the Ireland squad for October's World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Wales.
The Salford-born forward, who only received his Irish passport six weeks ago, comes in for Burnley forward Jonathan Walters, who has been ruled out of the two matches with a knee injury.
The 25-year-old, who qualifies for Ireland through his grandparents, has scored three goals in 11 Aston Villa appearances this season.
"Scott has got the paperwork through and he is available to us," Ireland manager Martin O'Neill confirmed.
Millwall forward Aiden O'Brien also receives a first call-up to O'Neill's provisional 32-man squad, which includes injury doubts James McCarthy, Wes Hoolahan, Harry Arter and Keiren Westwood.
James McClean and Robbie Brady are both suspended for the fixture against Moldova at the Aviva Stadium on Friday, 6 October but will be available to face Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium three days later.
Ireland sit third in Group D with 13 points from eight games, following September's draw in Georgia and the home defeat to group leaders Serbia.
Serbia top the group with 18 points, while Wales lie second with 14 points from eight games, and fixtures against Georgia in Tbilisi and Ireland in Cardiff to come.
"The Moldova game is everything to us, we have to win this game. It'll be a nervy 90 minutes, we've seen this before in a game we're hoping to win," O'Neill continued.
"We're going to try to go to Wales with everything to play for so the game has become ultra important.
"We have two games and we know if you win them you would be desperately unlucky not to be in the play-offs."
