Janmaat out of Swansea clash

Daryl Janmaat will miss Newcastle's crunch Premier League tie against Swansea on Saturday.

Janmaat was reported to have broken two fingers when he punched the dressing room wall in frustration after the 3-1 defeat to Southampton at St Mary's Stadium last weekend.

The defender had limped off after sustaining a groin injury in the build-up to Southampton's second goal and the club has confirmed that he will miss Saturday's game because of both problems.

"Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat is currently undergoing treatment for a groin injury suffered during the game against Southampton on Saturday," a statement from Newcastle read.

"The 26-year-old defender has also undergone treatment for a hand injury sustained the same day.

"Janmaat will be unavailable for the club's forthcoming fixture against Swansea at the weekend. He will be reviewed further next week and the club will provide an update in due course."
