Kang Sung-hoon has retained the lead at the Houston Open but only after Rickie Fowler four-putted on the final green on Saturday.
The South Korean held a six-shot advantage going into the third round - seven over Fowler - after a sizzling 63 on Friday.
However, Fowler clawed back the deficit in the third round to drawl level with Kang before a horror end to the day saw him bogey 17 before four-putting the par-five 18th for a double bogey.
On a tougher day with a strong wind, Kang posted a one-under-par 71 to move to -17, three strokes clear of Fowler while Russell Henley, who was second at the halfway point, is a shot further adrift.
If the 29-year-old manages to win on Sunday it would be his first PGA Tour victory and it would secure him the final place in next week's Masters at Augusta.
With storms forecast to disrupt the final day's play, Kang is aiming to remain focused.
"I'll just stick to my game plan," he told PGATour.com. "It was very hard work.
"Greens got firmer, faster. I tried to really grind it out today and I did pretty good."
Fowler meanwhile was taking the positives from his 67.
"I can't really dwell on the last two holes," he said. "I was trying to avoid a spike mark on 17 and my second putt for par on 18 was supposed to go right and it moved left on me.
"It's unfortunate but we've put ourself in position to win so I can't really dwell on the last two holes."
