Karius undergoes surgery

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is recovering from surgery to repair his broken right hand.

Karius was injured when he collided with team-mate Dejan Lovren in Liverpool's pre-season friendly against Chelsea, forcing him to return early from the club's tour of the United States.

The German international, who is expected to be sidelined for between eight and ten weeks, posted a picture of himself on Twitter recovering from his operation.

"I'm back at home after a successful surgery! Thank you guys for all your get-well wishes! #LK! @LFC.," Karius tweeted.

Karius joined Liverpool in a £4.7million deal from Mainz and is expected to challenge Simon Mignolet for goalkeeper's position.
