Khan reassures fans after defeat

Briton suffers sixth round knock out

British boxer Amir Khan has reassured fans that he is okay after being taken to hospital following his sixth-round knockout defeat to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in Las Vegas overnight.

The WBC champion successfully completed the first defence of his title by stopping Khan with a huge right hand in the sixth as the step up in weight to 155lbs proved too much for the Briton.

Khan had impressed with his speed and combinations in the opening five rounds but was eventually undone by Alvarez's superior size and strength for the fourth defeat of his career.

Khan, who is expected to return to 147lbs for his next fight where he is undefeated, reassured his fans with a message as he was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

A Twitter message read: "Im (sic) okay everyone. thats (sic) boxing for you, congrats to @Canelo monster punch, much love to all the fans! #CaneloKhan".
